Samira Wiley & Lauren Morelli

For those who have watched the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black, many may get to know one of the show’s characters, Poussey Washington, who is played by Samira Wiley. While she has found success thanks to the show, perhaps her greatest achievement yet was when she found love in the form of Lauren Morelli, who was a writer on the show during its first season.

The two first met back in 2012, when filming for the show’s first season began. They quickly became friends, and soon enough, they started dating shortly after Morelli finalized her separation from her husband and came out as lesbian. By October 2016, the two got engaged. They tied the knot in March 2017 in Palm Springs. Today, the two have welcomed their first child, daughter George Elizabeth, who was born in April 2021. They have been committed to make an investment to their daughter, if their Instagram posts indicate.
