Assemble! Fan-Favorite Moments In The MCU
There’s always a story to be told. The film industry has provided us with a wide range of films over the years, including genres such as romance, horror, thriller, sci-fi, and action. While many of these hits are original stories written by the scriptwriter, some of our favorite films are based on pre-existing properties. Of course, comic books, particularly superheroes, have been the most prominent in recent years. But for the purposes of this article, let’s focus on one particular franchise that has achieved a high degree of fame and recognition since its inception: the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There are many iconic moments in the MCU, so here are a few that have become fan favorites.
A Friend From Work
Thor, like Iron Man and Captain America, takes credit for having been an Avenger since Phase 1 of the MCU. While his first two solo adventures, Thor and Thor: The Dark World, have a more serious tone, the Mjolnir-wielding hero’s third adventure, Thor: Ragnarok, has a more upbeat, vibrant, and comedic tone. One such scene that everyone remembers is his reunion with the Hulk. The line “He’s a friend from work,” according to Thor actor Chris Hemsworth, was unscripted and was actually suggested by a child who visited the set during production. So, kudos to you, young man.
The Avengers Assembling
Some things never get old. It’s common in comic books for superheroes from different stories to cross paths every now and then. In the case of Marvel, this is due to the fact that they all exist in the same universe. Meanwhile, it took a long time for big-screen comic book adaptations to bring together characters from different worlds. With that in mind, it’s no surprise that 2012’s The Avengers received a good degree of praise soon after its release. Since then, the MCU has had many moments where these characters come together, and seeing them all in frame is always a treat.
Peter And Ned’s Reunion
More often than not, these stories about superheroes end happily, with them saving the world and possibly learning something valuable along the way. To Marvel’s credit, fans were in for a surprise when the MCU’s third Avengers film, Infinity War, was released. If the franchise had ended right then and there, the MCU would have ended on a depressing note, with many beloved characters turned to dust. Peter Parker and his best friend, Ned Leeds, were among those present. Fortunately, this was not the case. In Avengers: Endgame, the remaining heroes are doing everything they can to bring everyone back. After Thanos is defeated, the film concludes with everyone going back to their normal lives and reuniting with their friends and family. Many viewers were moved to tears when Peter and Ned finally met again after such a long time apart.
I Am Iron Man
A journey must begin somewhere. Well, the MCU’s rise to fame began with a character who was relatively unknown to non-comic book fans. Suffice it to say, their investments paid off when Iron Man became a massive hit in 2008. Without a doubt, this is an excellent way to launch a franchise. While superheroes frequently keep their identities hidden, the 2008 comic book adaptation surprised audiences when Tony Stark, played flawlessly by Robert Downey Jr., said this iconic phrase in a conference by the end of the film: “I am Iron Man.” That wasn’t the only time he said those words. That statement became more impactful and true to the character in Avengers: Endgame when Tony said it to Thanos before snapping the Infinity Gauntlet, turning Thanos and his army into dust but also severely injuring Tony. Iron Man/Tony Stark, who was initially selfish, ended his story as a superhero in every sense of the word.
Spider-Man Villains From Other Universes Showing Up
When it comes to characters coming together in a film, the heroes aren’t the only ones who take credit. Long-time Spider-Man fans undoubtedly got what they wished for in 2021, when the MCU released Spider-Man: No Way Home, the third Spidey film. Due to Peter Parker and Doctor Strange inadvertently breaking the multiverse, villains from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man films and Marc Webb’s Amazing Spider-Man films, such as Doctor Octopus, the Green Goblin, and Electro, have the opportunity to share the screen. Of course, this is only the tip of the iceberg: No Way Home is chock-full of memorable scenes, not to mention fan service.
